1) You need eight square papers
of the same size to fold this star. The size of the finished star will be
double the size of the squares., e.g. 5 cm square papers will make a 10 cm star
whereas 7 cm square papers will make 14 cm star.
 2) Start with the backside of
the paper facing upward. Fold the paper diagonally in half as shown in the
picture.
 3) Your paper looks like a
triangle now. Unfold it again before you make the next step.
4) Fold the two edges to the
center as shown in the photo by using the diagonal crease in the middle as
orientation line. You get a small folded
“kite”.
5) Rotate the paper so that it
lies in front of you as shown in the picture. Fold the bottom edge so that the
bottom cross marks touch the upper cross marks (see next picture).
6) Make a sharp crease, then
unfold.
7) Rotate the paper to repeat
the same fold on the other side. Again make a sharp crease.
8) Rotate the „kite“ as shown
in the picture. Pull the left center point from inside to outside reversing the
crease.
9) Crease the side point down.
The folded pattern should look like the pattern in the photo.
10) Now fold the right top
edge to the center along the creased line. The top point, which stands up now,
has to be folded down to the center by pushing both side edges outside and
down. Clear as mud?
11) You are finished with the
first folded element. Fold all eight pieces of the star in the same way.
12) Assemble the star pieces
together as shown in the picture: Slip the diamond fold at the bottom of each
piece inside the diamond of another piece. Diamond folds will overlap each
other and build the center of the finished star. Dot glue in the folds to
secure.
13) This is how the star looks
like after assembly of all eight pieces.
 14) This is the back side of
the star.
15) Option B: You may also
assemble the eight pieces in a slightly different way. When slipping the eight pieces together,
alternate the way of insertion under and over. Looks like picture 15.
16) This is the rear of the star, assembled according to option B.
17) This star looks even more three-dimensional. It is assembled from
two stars, a small one on top of another big star. These folded stars are great
