You can draw the shape of this bookmark easily. Just put your hand on a piece of cardstock and trace around your hand with a pencil. Then cut out the shape and decorate it. You can use stamps, punches, decorative papers, stickers, colored pencils and water colors – as you like. Punch a hole in the hand to attach decorative ribbons. You may use gold stickers and beads for embellishment.
It’s a nice idea to attach the hand to a card in long DIN format (10,5 x 21 cm). Make two small holes into the card (to be placed at both sides of the ring finger). Use a gold or silver rubber cord and wrap it around the ring finger through the holes and make a knot on the back of the card. This will make a nice greeting card which you can send by post.
This project is great fun for children, if they trace their own hand and decorate it according to their own imagination. The hand of the child makes a nice gift which parents and grandparents will treasure.
You can download the template of a hand (7 year old child) with a spiral text as pdf document here. Hand-template.pdf
